(Labor Day – 12/31/18)
We invite all parents to participate in the Fall Drive every year, while BCE volunteers educate our community about BCE’s mission and the positive impact our grant makes on every child in the district. The sooner and more accurately BCE forecasts donations from our parent donor base, the more volunteer resources we can focus on non-parent sources of funding.
Donations made during the Fall Drive or anytime throughout the year count towards a family’s annual campaign donation.

Meet and Greet
New BSD School Board Trustees
Tuesday, March 22, 2022 | 7-8 PM
BCE invites you to learn more about the newly appointed Burlingame School District (BSD) School Board Trustees - Dan Devoy and Doug Brown
School Board Trustees are locally-elected public officials entrusted with governing a community’s public schools. Since the School Board plays a key role in the direction, structure, and accountability of our District, BCE is happy to offer this evening of learning and listening.
On January 18, 2022, a vacancy was created on the Governing Board of the Burlingame School District following the resignation of Board members Kate Reed and Deepak Sarpangal. On February 15, 2022, the Burlingame School District Governing Board appointed Doug Brown and Daniel Devoy to assume the vacant seats on the Board.
Event FAQ
What is the structure of the BSD School Board? BSD has a five-member School Board. Each Trustee is elected to a four-year term. The terms are staggered so that there are rotating openings every two years. Learn more on the BSD website. Dan and Doug have been appointed through the upcoming election.
What topics will be addressed at this meet and greet? This is an opportunity for the community to learn more about the new appointed BSD Trustees. We will highlight what motivates these individuals to serve the public and what beliefs and values anchor their decision-making process. Tune into their first BSD School Board meeting on March 15.
Dan Devoy

Dan Devoy joined the Board of Trustees in March 2022. He and his wife were both born and raised on the peninsula and moved to Burlingame in 2017. They have two children. One child is currently enrolled in the Burlingame School District and the other will join in a few years.
Dan grew up attending public schools in the neighboring town of San Carlos and volunteered for military service in the Army upon high school graduation. He served two enlistments in the Army, including an 18-month deployment as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon completion of military service, Dan obtained his law degree and began his career as a civil litigator. Later, he created his own private practice with an emphasis in real estate law. For the last eight years, Dan has been a Professor of Law at Golden Gate School of Law in San Francisco, where he teaches Civil Procedure, Evidence, and Internet Torts. He is also the founding Director of the law school’s Veterans’ Clinic, which provides pro bono representation to disabled military veterans, and military members that were discriminated against by the government based on race, ethnicity, or LGBTQ+ status.
Dan is committed to providing a well-rounded education to all students and preparing them to succeed in high school, and begin the path towards their higher education. Dan’s focus is to ensure Burlingame schools maintain their excellent achievement record while maintaining fiscal discipline that will allow future Burlingame students to enjoy the same great education system we have today.
